Does Elabora work with Claude?

Yes, through Elabora’s extension for the Claude desktop app: Claude’s chat then works on your courses, with Elabora’s own tools.

On this page

What the extension gives you

  • Your courses, in Claude’s chat. No terminal and no folder to choose: Claude sees the courses of your library and those opened from elsewhere in Elabora. It reads and writes their plan, screens and blocks, checks them, looks at a screen as a learner sees it and builds the SCORM package, with about a hundred tools Elabora provides.
  • The guidance of your Elabora version. The extension contains no copy of Elabora: it starts the Elabora app installed on your computer, with its rules and its guides for each task. When Elabora updates, Claude follows.
  • Your hand on everything. Elabora shows what Claude changes as it happens, and undoes it in one step. See Working with your AI.

With Claude Code, nothing to install: see Elabora and Claude Code.

Before you start

  • Elabora, installed and opened once. On a Mac, in the Applications folder.
  • The Claude desktop app, on a Mac or on Windows.

Installing the extension

  1. In Elabora: You › Settings… › Tools for AI › Install in Claude. The button shows when the Claude app is on your computer. (Or download the extension, elabora.mcpb, and double-click it.)
  2. Claude opens and shows Elabora: install it. Claude may warn that the extension does not come from its directory: Elabora’s extension is installed from its file.
  3. In a new conversation, the tools menu lists Elabora.

A course created or opened in Elabora later shows up too, with nothing to reinstall.

Three requests to try

Which Elabora courses can you work on? Give me an overview of each one.

In the coffee course, on the brewing page, add a quick question about the brewing ratio, with feedback for each answer.

Check the coffee course and tell me what to fix before I send it to the client.

With several courses, name the one you mean in your request.

Try it on a sample course

Download the sample course “From cherry to cup: coffee in brief”: a 15-minute course for the new baristas of a fictional café chain, which uses every starter block of Elabora. Double-click the file: Elabora adds it to your library, and Claude sees it.

If something goes wrong

  • Claude says Elabora was not found: on a Mac, Elabora must be in the Applications folder (yours or the computer’s); on Windows, installed with its installer. Open Elabora once, then restart Claude.
  • Claude says Elabora has not been opened yet: open Elabora once. Claude then sees your courses, with no restart.
  • Claude offers only Elabora’s documentation: update Elabora. The extension needs a version more recent than 0.4.0.
